First Outbound Workshop

No comments :

The first outbound workshop for the Active Citizen module “Facilitation” was held on Monday the 24th August at the Sarvodaya Institute of Higher Learning, Bandaragama. 47 students and four staff members (facilitators) joined four facilitators - Achini, Anoka, Isuru and Joanne for the sessions. Thushara from British Council Sri Lanka organized and coordinated the event. The workshop was sponsored by the British Council.

The workshop primarily covered the development of a social action project proposal taking the community map the students had already developed as the basis. This was done in two breakup sessions and finally bringing them together in plenary. Introductory and concluding sessions included project briefs by guest facilitators, short videos, and information about British Council Active Citizens programme including the Social Action Project Award in order to inspire students of limitless potentials for social action projects and to encourage and motivate them more in social actions.

First day of the new programme

No comments :
We commenced Active Citizen Module (named “Responsible Citizenship”) at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Moratuwa. First day was an introduction seminar for those who were willing to take the elective. We thought this to be necessary because students were not much aware of what it was. Unfortunately Udeni could not be there; but he will lead the rest of the programme.
The programme in Faculty of Architecture will commence in the second semester, so it will be in about another six months time. We hope all will enjoy the learning experience while developing their knowledge and skill in Facilitation and Sustainable Development so that they will become Responsible Citizens.
